Stephanie: There are tons of books about female orgasm just do an internet search. JANE: I am asking women to provide personal insights. I hoped that, as a sex therapist, you might be able to help. Why are women so reluctant to be explicit about sexual pleasuring & orgasm? Stephanie: What is your reason for asking? JANE: I have been asking women about orgasm with a lover for many years. Most refuse to comment. Even if I ask sex therapists, women cannot explain them in a logical way. JANE (cont):Only men talk about female orgasm openly and easily. Personally I dont believe such orgasms exist. They appear to be just male fantasies. Stephanie: More men think their partner has had an orgasm through intercourse than their female partners report, which means either the man imagines his partner is having an orgasm or the partner is faking. Stephanie (cont): The clitoris has extensions that go near the vagina. In a small number of women, the vibration of these extensions may cause orgasm during intercourse. The penis also pulls on the labia while thrusting, Stephanie (cont): which causes the prepuce to rub over the clitoris, resulting in orgasm. I disagree that women cant orgasm from intercourse, having experienced it myself, but it is a much rarer phenomenon than realized. JANE: It is clear from the male experience that stimulation must continue until orgasm. It is then preferable that stimulation ceases. But intercourse is defined by male responses (erection & ejaculation). So how does a woman manage to orgasm from stimulation that she cannot control? JANE (cont): Kinsey found that womens orgasm claims made no difference to how often they had intercourse or initiated sexual activity with a lover. Women must mistake sensual and emotional sensations for orgasm. Can you name any female erotic turnons with a lover? Stephanie: Clearly you have given this a lot of thought. I wish I had time to engage further. Thank you for the work you are doing. An interesting & fun way to learn about sexuality for all
