A woman has eggs in her ovaries from birth that are released one at a time during her monthly cycle. Conception occurs when a sperm meets an egg and attaches to the uterus wall. The ovaries are connected to the uterus by two Fallopian tubes. Each month after puberty a woman releases an egg (this process occurs subconsciously) JANE (cont): which travels down the Fallopian tube and into the uterus. If a sperm enters the uterus (via the vagina) then conception may occur, the cells attach to the uterus wall and start to grow into an embryo and later a foetus. JANE (cont): Orgasm occurs when anyone focuses on eroticism and stimulates their sex organ penis or clitoris. Some women orgasm through masturbation alone. But most women never experience orgasm because sexual response (arousal and orgasm) is part of male reproductive biology. JANE (cont): Every embryo has a genital tubercle, which becomes either a penis or a clitoris. The testes in a male embryo (XY chromosome) produce hormones (including testosterone) which determines whether the genital tubercle becomes a penis or a clitoris.
